Flares

Utility Flares

Tornado’s utility flare design is an economical solution for emergency shut down (ESD) applications, compressor blowdowns, pigging, and cases where smoke emissions may not be a concern.

Steam-Assisted Flares

Tornado's steam-assisted flare stacks are designed to combust heavy hydrocarbons with no smoke emissions when there is a source of high-pressure steam available on site.

Sonic Flares

Tornado's sonic flare stacks make use of available high pressures in the waste gas to create turbulence, thereby enhancing the combustion process in high volume flaring projects. The sonic flare produces minimal radiation, with the end result being a more economic, shorter flare height.

Air-Assisted Flares

Tornado’s air-assisted flare stacks are designed to eliminate smoke emissions when combusting heavy hydrocarbons.

Gas-Assisted Flares

Tornado's High Pressure or Low Pressure gas-assisted flare stack designs can eliminate smoke (HP Gas-Assist) or sour gas odours (LP Gas-Assist) on site.

Velocity Seal

In flare stacks that have little to no process flow, there is a potential that air can enter the flare tip, and work its way down the stack into the flare header.

What is a flare stack?

A flare stack refers to an elevated vertical stack used for burning off unusable waste gas in a variety of applications.

Waste gases are either uneconomical to recover/retain or released during planned or unplanned over-pressuring of plant equipment. Waste gases are released to the flare via piping (flare header) and burned as they exit the flare stack.
